BOOM! Constitutional Carry has been INTRODUCED in the Florida House of Representatives!
With a lot of public support for the idea from Speaker Paul Renner and Governor Ron DeSantis, Florida is in a better position than ever to pass a rock-solid, robust Constitutional Carry bill.
The good news is that House Bill 543 would once and for all repeal the government permission slip as a requirement to exercise our right to carry a concealed firearm.
But I have some bad news to tell you:
The bill is already being watered down, and there is not one single reason why it should be.
You see, the bill as it currently stands right now does not legalize open carry, even though gun owners in 37 other states have for decades been enjoying this freedom.
In fact, the bill keeps the 2nd degree misdemeanor penalty on the books, which is a fine of $500 and a sentence of up to 60 days in the slammer – just for publicly exercising the right to keep and bear arms!
But who is doing this?
The same RINOs in Tallahassee that passed Red Flag gun confiscation and shredded Floridians’ due process rights are the same ones watering down Constitutional Carry right now!
Keep in mind, too, that folks in ‘Blue’ states like Michigan, Washington, Oregon, Colorado and Delaware are able to strap their 1911 on their hip with no license and no problem!
But yet here in Florida, with Republican control of the Florida Legislature for years and years, we are still living under this tyranny. It’s insanity!
But there’s more.
The bill requires law-abiding Floridians to carry valid identification on them at all times and provide it to law enforcement when demanded – and if you forgot your wallet or your ID is expired, you will be forced to pay a fine.
(Note: will the Florida Legislature require you to show ID to worship in church next?)
Now, there might be a few fudds out there who think to themselves smugly, ‘ehh, that’s not so bad.’
But once this is put on the books, it can be easily amended later to up the penalty, add in jail time, or worse, make it a felony offense – meaning your gun rights could be gone forever!
This is not REAL Constitutional Carry.
That’s why we need to be hammering the politicians in Tallahassee and demand that they pass a REAL, full-orbed Constitutional Carry law that recognizes our right to open carry and gives Floridians maximum freedom!
The fact is, with Governor DeSantis already on board and Speaker Paul Renner promising to pass the bill, now is not the time to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.
