Whereas: Florida State University — like many public places across Florida — is a “Gun-Free Zone” where law-abiding citizens are prohibited from carrying firearms to defend themselves, even in the face of violent criminals who ignore such laws; and

Whereas: Gun-Free Zones do not stop evil — they invite it, leaving innocent Floridians defenseless and creating “soft targets” for killers who know no one will shoot back; and

Whereas: Florida’s gun-control laws, including the massive package passed in 2018, have not stopped violence, but they have stripped more rights away from the law-abiding; and

Whereas: The right to keep and bear arms does not end at a campus boundary, a school parking lot, or a public park gate — it is a God-given, Constitutionally protected right that “shall not be infringed” by politicians or bureaucrats; and

Whereas: The best defense against a violent criminal is a well-armed citizen with the training and legal ability to defend themselves and those around them;

Therefore: As your constituent, I insist you cosponsor and vote YES on legislation to fully REPEAL Florida’s dangerous Gun-Free Zone laws and RESTORE the right of every lawful Floridian to carry a firearm for self-defense anywhere they have a legal right to be.
